He also pointed to 1 Peter 2:21-23, emphasizing Jesus as the ultimate example of endurance, who faced suffering with grace despite His innocence.
Sources of Discouragement and How to Overcome Them
Disciple Freeman explained that discouragement often stems from:
- Spiritual Weakness – When we neglect our faith, we become more vulnerable to doubt (1 Timothy 4:7).
- Bitterness & Unforgiveness – Holding onto resentment prevents us from experiencing true peace (Ephesians 4:26-27).
- Pride & Self-Reliance – Relying solely on our own strength rather than seeking God’s guidance leads to frustration (John 5:30).
Drawing Strength from Biblical Examples
He shared stories of Elijah (1 Kings 19:4-10) and David (1 Samuel 30:1-8), both of whom faced deep discouragement but found renewed strength through their faith in God. These examples serve as reminders that even in our lowest moments, turning to God can restore our hope.
