Rev. Dr. Mensa Otabil, Chancellor of Central University and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, has emphasized the need for strict law enforcement to promote discipline and accelerate national development.
Speaking at an institutional lecture at Central University’s Miotso Campus near Tema, Dr. Otabil highlighted how enforcing laws on the environment, sanitation, mining, and forest conservation could significantly contribute to the country’s progress.
The Power of Law and Order
Dr. Otabil underscored that national development thrives when citizens act intentionally and purposefully. He stressed that without a strong sense of responsibility and adherence to rules, meaningful growth would be difficult to achieve.
“Until people consciously decide to act with purpose and responsibility, they cannot drive development. When citizens commit to doing the right things, the country will naturally progress,” he stated.
Africa’s Challenges and the Need for Forward-Thinking Leadership
Dr. Otabil also addressed the broader challenges facing Africa, emphasizing the need for visionary leadership. He called for leaders who are bold in their thinking and proactive in solving the continent’s pressing issues.
To overcome these challenges, he recommended fostering a culture of precision, accuracy, and future-oriented thinking. He encouraged each generation to be deeply concerned about safeguarding the well-being of future generations, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
Encouraging Critical Conversations
The event was chaired by Central University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bill B. Puplampu, who explained that the Institutional Lecture series aims to encourage discussions on national development among faculty, staff, and students.
By promoting these dialogues, the university hopes to contribute to shaping solutions for Ghana’s development and beyond.
Dr. Otabil’s message served as a call to action for both the state and its citizens to work together in enforcing laws and fostering a culture of accountability, ultimately creating a better society for all.
