The Director of the Youth Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Ebenezer Hagan, has urged young Christians to make it their lifelong pursuit to seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit, as it is key to achieving great exploits in their faith journey.
He made this call while addressing the congregation at the Odorkor Area during the official launch of this year’s National Youth Ministry Week Celebration. Speaking on the topic “Empowerment From On High,” Apostle Hagan drew inspiration from Luke 24:47-49, Acts 1:6-8, Acts 2:1, and Ezekiel 47, emphasizing the vital role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer—especially the youth.
The Power of Waiting on God
Apostle Hagan explained that before Jesus ascended into heaven, He instructed His disciples to wait for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit so they could receive power from above. He stressed that waiting on God is crucial in receiving this divine empowerment.
“Young people must develop a deep desire for the Holy Spirit, continually pray, and stay in God’s presence,” he said. “The Holy Spirit comes to those who intentionally seek Him through fasting, prayer, and unwavering focus on God.”
He further explained that God has a specific moment for everyone’s transformation, but it requires seriousness, expectation, and readiness to receive. He compared this to the Day of Pentecost, when the disciples earnestly waited and prayed until the Holy Spirit descended like a mighty rushing wind.
Every Service Should Be a ‘Day of Pentecost’
Apostle Hagan urged church leaders to create an atmosphere in every service where the presence and power of the Holy Spirit could be deeply experienced.
“Our services will only be as powerful as our preparation and attitude when we enter God’s presence,” he noted.
He explained that being filled with the Holy Spirit means allowing God to take full control of one’s life, guiding them to do His will rather than their own. “The Holy Spirit is available to anyone who sincerely desires Him,” he added.
Authority and Power in the Workplace and Beyond
Apostle Hagan highlighted that a Christian filled with the Holy Spirit carries authority and power wherever they go, including in their workplace, school, or community.
He encouraged the youth to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues and to pray frequently in the Spirit for personal edification.
“The more you speak in tongues, the more you will be filled with power,” he said.
Additionally, he urged young Christians to earnestly seek spiritual gifts, just as Daniel did through prayer and devotion.
A Call to Action
Concluding his message, Apostle Hagan challenged the youth to cultivate a daily habit of seeking the Holy Spirit through prayer, devotion, and a deep desire to be used by God.
“You will be amazed at how much your life—and the lives of those around you—will be transformed,” he assured.
