Today marks the last day of the year. As we reflect, do you realize just how valuable each day has been? The time the Lord gave you is more precious than the finest diamonds. Yet, how often do we recognize its worth?
The Lesson of the Lost Diamonds
There’s a story about a young man walking along a seashore late one evening. He stumbled upon a small sack, opened it, and found what looked like ordinary rocks. He carried the sack with him and, as he walked, casually tossed the stones into the sea one by one.
When he got home, he emptied the remaining stones from his pocket and was shocked to discover they weren’t ordinary rocks, they were diamonds! He had thrown countless precious stones into the sea, and now only a few remained. He was heartbroken, realizing the immense value of what he had carelessly discarded.
The Value of Time
Our days are like those diamonds, priceless gifts from God. Have you ever considered how much time may have been wasted this year? Perhaps you’ve spent hours on things that don’t really matter, throwing away moments that could have been used for God’s glory.
But here’s the good news: just as the young man had a few diamonds left, so too do you still have some precious time remaining. Whether it’s years, months, or even just days, what will you do with the time you have left?
A Call to Repentance and Purpose
As the year comes to a close, take a moment to reflect. Will you repent for the time you’ve wasted and resolve to make the most of the days ahead? The Bible encourages us:
“Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light. See then that you walk carefully, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:14-17).
God calls us to wake up from spiritual slumber and use our time wisely. Each moment is an opportunity to glorify Him, to love others, and to grow in our faith.
Your Time is a Treasure
If the Lord blesses you with another year, or even part of one, how will you use it? Will you continue to toss your days away, or will you cherish them as the precious diamonds they are?
Let this be the year you commit to living purposefully, aligning your time with God’s will, and making each moment count.
Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for the time I’ve wasted. Help me to treasure each day You give me, using it for Your glory and purpose. Teach me to walk wisely and to make the most of every moment. Amen.
Remember, time is more precious than diamonds. Don’t throw it away!
